Waghzen is the name of the mythical Amazigh creature called the oger but also the name of a new band that sings Heavy Metal in Tamazight (Taqbaylit). With many concerts and their first album in circulation in Algeria, they are looking for opportunities to prove their talents both inside and outside Algeria. We would like to inform you that ACAA is commemorating Tafust 2959 on April 25, 2009. It will take place on April 25, 2009, at Hub’s Restaurant  in Kenosha, Wisconsin. It is about 30-40 minutes North  of the O’Hare airport. All members of ACAA and friends of Tamazight are invited and we hope that many of you will be able to attend.

3:00-5:00 p.m.: Welcome and reception
5:00-6:00 p.m.: Discussion on Tafsut
6:00-7:00 p.m.: Dinner 
7:00-9:00 p.m. : Talk on Tafsut or Mouloud Mameri, Poetry reading, story telling, and Amazigh music.
The entrance fee is: $25 per person. (Children under 12  pay $15).

Directions to the Hub Restaurant From O’Hare airport take 294 North, which becomes 94 West to exit 344 it is also the exit for Highway 50. Go East (right) on Highway 50. After about 50 meters you will see on your left a “Shell Gas Station” turn left into the street (avenue 118) in front of the “Shell Gas station” proceed on that street. You will see on your right the Woodman Shopping Center, the Texas Road House restaurant, then the Little Europe Restaurant and 100 meters after Little Europe you will find the Hub Restaurant on the right side. 

If you come on 94 north proceed to exit Highway 50 and proceed East (left) and then follow the directions given above.

The second annual Los Angeles Film Festival will take place on January 10th 2009. It coincides with the celebration of the Amazigh New Year or the Yennayer celebration.
